Portable single-unit machines, to set down and vent through an opening. They cool, dehumidify and ventilate — they do not heat. For the camper, the tent, the boat and the covered terrace.

Portable air conditioner, camper air conditioner, portable cooling

A single-unit air conditioner fits in one case: compressor, heat exchangers and fan all in the same place. Nothing to fix to a wall, nothing to put outside, no building work and no commissioning by a refrigeration engineer. In exchange, the hot air has to leave through a hose. That is the only constraint, and it is not negotiable.

Why the hose is not optional

An air conditioner does not make cold: it moves heat from one side to the other. With no route to the outside, the heat taken from the room comes straight back, plus the heat the compressor itself produces — the temperature goes up instead of down.

Machines sold as “no exhaust needed” are evaporative coolers. They humidify the air and give a sense of freshness outdoors or in an open space; they do not cool a closed cabin, and in a camper they add moisture where there is already too much. We do not sell them, and we would rather say so here than let the confusion make the sale.

The two models

The Zéphyr Blanc runs on 230 V. 1,200 W of cooling capacity for 420 W drawn, 13 kg, for a floor area under 6 m²: a cabin, a spare bedroom, a roof tent on a hook-up.

The Zéphyr Noir + accepts 12 V, 24 V and 220 V. That is what makes it a camper air conditioner in the strict sense: it runs off the vehicle battery or off a power station, without depending on a campsite hook-up. 4,100 BTU, R290 refrigerant, and no condensate tray to empty.

What to look at before you order

A portable air conditioner uses power. On a battery, it is the power drawn that counts, not the cooling capacity: the first empties the reserve, the second describes the cold produced. The runtime table on the Volta stations gives the order of magnitude, and appliances beyond the continuous output are flagged there.

We have changed supplier on this range, and a certificate applies to a specific reference, not to a model. The energy label and the product fiche under Regulation (EU) 626/2011, together with the EU Declaration of Conformity, have been requested for the new references and will be published on Our checks as soon as they arrive.

WORTH KNOWING

Every product page gives the manufacturer's figures, the documents we hold and what the unit does not do. Until a figure has been measured by us, it is stated as coming from the manufacturer, and we say so.

If you are torn between two references, call us on +33 4 28 29 08 16 before you order, Monday to Friday from 9 am to 6 pm. Twenty minutes on the phone beats a twenty-kilo return.
