About this product

300 W folding solar panel, in four sections, the most powerful in the Elios range.

Monocrystalline cells 182 × 182 mm with 23 % efficiency, ETFE front surface, EVA encapsulation and an epoxy resin backing. The dyed polyester carry case doubles as a kickstand.

Output 20.5 V at 9.8 A at the maximum power point, 25.5 V open circuit, with an MC4 cable — the same voltage as the Elios 100 W and 200 W, so the same connection to a Volta power station.

Folded: 750 × 670 × 40 mm. Unfolded: 2,500 × 750 × 4 mm, giving 1.88 m² of active surface for 11 kg. It unfolds lengthways, like the 200 W, over two and a half metres: it needs room, and something to weigh it down in a stiff breeze.

The manufacturer's datasheet states 320 W maximum power under laboratory conditions. We sell it as a 300 W, and our recharge estimates are based on 300 W.

Shipping and returns

Order dispatched within 24 hours. Then allow around fifteen days for delivery in mainland France; shipping is calculated in the cart before payment, and nothing is added after the order.

The questions we get asked about solar

Does the panel plug straight into a Volta station?

Yes. The panel has an MC4 output, the photovoltaic standard, and the MC4 to DC 5525 cable that bridges the two is already in the kit supplied with every Volta station. Nothing else to buy.

All three Elios deliver 20.5 V at the maximum power point: the 100 W, the 200 W and the 300 W connect to a Volta 1000 or 1600 in exactly the same way. Only the current differs — 4.9 A on the 100 W, 9.8 A on the other two.

How long does it take to recharge a station?

A panel almost never delivers its peak power: that figure is measured at 1,000 W/m² with the cell at 25 °C, laboratory conditions. In full sun, well angled, you commonly get 60 to 75 % of the stated value, and far less under a hazy sky.

On that basis, the 200 W fills the 1,024 Wh of a Volta 1600 in one good sunny day, and the 100 W in two. These are calculated orders of magnitude, not measurements: we will publish readings once we have them.

Can it stay outside in the rain?

No. The front face is ETFE and copes with damp, but the manufacturer's data sheet states no ingress protection rating for the assembly, and neither the polyester case nor the connectors are meant to sit through a downpour. Fold it away when the weather turns.

Does it work with a station from another brand?

Often, yes, provided you check two things on your station: the voltage and the current its solar input accepts.

All three Elios output 20.5 V at the maximum power point. Open-circuit voltage rises to 24 V on the 100 W and 200 W, and to 25.5 V on the 300 W. Current is 4.9 A on the 100 W and 9.8 A on the 200 W and 300 W.

The MC4 connector is a standard; what changes is the adapter cable to your station's input, and that is what the multi-connector adapter offered above covers: XT60, Anderson, DC5521 and DC5525.

100 W or 200 W?

The 100 W is a top-up: 3.8 kg, two sections, it fits in a boot and keeps a station charged through the day. The 200 W genuinely recharges, but it weighs 7 kg and measures 2.16 m unfolded — it needs room, and something to weigh it down in a stiff breeze.

The 300 W also unfolds lengthways, but over 2.50 m, for 11 kg — as much as a Volta station. It is the panel for a pitch you settle into, not for a rucksack.

If the panel is there to save you driving home to recharge, take the 200 W. If it is there so you never hit zero, the 100 W is enough. The 300 W is for staying several days in one place, with the room to spread it out.

What this product cannot do

The 300 W figure is measured under laboratory conditions: 1,000 W/m², cell at 25 °C, tolerance ± 5 %. Under a real sky, with the panel poorly aimed or in strong heat, output drops noticeably — the manufacturer's datasheet states −0.38 % per degree above 25 °C.

Unfolded it measures 2.50 m long by 0.75 m and weighs 11 kg — as much as a Volta station. It needs room, something to weigh it down in a stiff breeze, and it is not a panel you carry on foot.

The output is MC4: connecting it to the DC input of a Volta station goes through the adapter in the cable kit.

A panel is no substitute for a mains charge before you leave.
